C. Franck, L. Vierne, A. Guillemant, E. Gigout, Ch. M. Widor – prominent French composers and organists, active during the time when the organ showed an unheard, deep and symphonic sound with a wide range dynamics, all thanks to the organ master A. Cavaille-Coll.
The Riga Cathedral organ, built by the famous E. F. Walcker & Co., allows the symphonic sound to be shown and experienced, exposing the organ voicing and colour so typical of the instruments of late French Romanticism.
